Alicia Douvall’s Got Serious BDD

An Alicia-ism for a 14th cosmetic breast surgery: “I know it will kill me. But I'd rather die trying to sort things out.”

We could have forgiven this attention-seeker anything, even the 14th breast augmentation, which everybody else is smart enough of realize is something of an overkill.

But making a statement like this is totally suicidal and Alicia better watch out the example she is setting for the scores of women suffering from body dysmorphic disorder. Individuals who display traits of this condition have an emphasized perception of their physical flaws. No matter what they do to ‘correct’ these flaws, they are still left dissatisfied.

This is why cosmetic surgery for such people is strictly advised against.

Alicia Douvall herself could be a case of BDD as evidenced by her cosmetic surgery mania. While it is understandable that people would want to correct imperfections or genetic deformities in their breast with cosmetic or reconstructive breast surgery, Alicia is pushing her body too much with the number of breast augmentation procedures she is having.

Accepting BDD is the first crucial step towards freedom from your perceived physical flaws. Doctors at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California advice against going in for a breast augmentation with an attitude like Alicia, whether you have been diagnosed with BDD or no.

Army Wife Wins A Foreign Tummy Tuck Lottery

Marketing ploys for cosmetic surgery are as popular as ever, drawing the fancies and whetting the hopes of women more than men.

Tina Watson was no exception to this trend and her tendency to put down her name for contests and promotions finally paid off. An army wife, Tina had been yearning for a tummy tuck for 14 years and an online promotion brought her dreams to fruition.

The 32-year-old is just one of the many examples of plastic surgery tourism that is experiencing an all-time high given the recent economic status of the USD. The British are one of the cosmetic surgery hopefuls setting their sights on less expensive healthcare and cosmetic procedures available in countries like Hungary, Brazil and even the U.S.

Tina Watson, a resident of Haverfordwest in Wales, did not have to pay for her tummy tuck surgery though. Her tummy tuck procedure was performed in Tunisia with all her expenses cared for.

Tunisia, situated in North Africa, is one of the vacation countries (Thailand, India, etc.) that have emerged as major attractions for cosmetic surgery tourism. While there may be exceptional surgeons performing the operations, plastic surgeons warn that countries like these may not always be equipped to offer the latest in healthcare that Westerners are used to.

Always get an opinion from a medical expert who has no vested interests in your tummy tuck or health decisions. The Plastic Surgery Institute of California always advises candidates to consider what their physicians or GPs have to say regardless of our unbiased consultations.

Accredited Facilities – The Best All Along

This is one of the many reasons why we feel real proud of our AAAASF accreditation.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) published a survey they had made in the July edition of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal that just made it a whole lot easier for cosmetic surgery candidates when scanning for a clinic.

The study found a significantly low level in the number of casualties reported among those who had their cosmetic surgery procedure in an AAAASF certified facility than in a non-certified one. Even if the accredited facility in question is an office, the safety levels were found to be the same as those found in hospitals.

The study is just a reiteration of facts actually and plastic surgery candidates would do well to realize the stress they have to pay on having their chin enhancement or tummy tuck surgery in a certified location.

What is even better is that very few states (14) in the U.S. make facility accreditation mandatory. California is apparently one of them, with the Plastic Surgery Institute of California one of the few clinics with an AAAASF certification.
