Journey from Interior to Exterior (Mommy Makeover)

How a couple becomes a family and another human being takes charge of their lives, the journey begins from conception. Today, when we not only can ensure sex without pregnancy, but pregnancy without sex, we have to reformulate every aspect of our thinking as our foundation of the most basic facts of life are being revised.

Women today are not willing to accept the physical and emotional changes that delivering a child brings about. Rather they want to do something about it, ‘since’ they can. There are institutes today all over the world which with the help of plastic surgery can change the way you look and feel post pregnancy.

Breast augmentation and tummy tuck surgeries are the most commonly opted for after pregnancy. Breast augmentation technically known as augmentation mammoplasty is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breast for a number of reasons. Essentially to restore breast volume lost due to weight loss or pregnancy. Pregnancy is another factor in which the skin around the breast loses its elasticity and the breasts often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag. There are surgical procedures like Breastlift and mastopexy for this. Breast feeding after pregnancy can also change the shape and size of the breast, which again can be surgically corrected.

Tummy tucks technically called ‘abdominoplasty’ is excision of abdominal fat and skin for cosmetic purposes. It is also a cosmetic surgery of the abdomen to remove wrinkles and tighten the skin over the stomach. This surgery is particularly helpful for women who have been through multiple pregnancies and have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond normal. These surgeries help you regain your confidence and self-esteem. They have become relatively common today, where every woman is veering towards a fitter persona.

The ASPS (The American Society of Plastic Surgeons) has very aptly termed these surgical procedures as ‘the baby boomers shifts to lifts’. There are some facts stated by them in which there are close to 5 million total cosmetic procedures performed on women and men ages 40-54 in 2006. Patients ages 55 and older in 2006 made up 26% of total patients with 2.8 million total cosmetic procedures.

The ‘Mommy Makeover’ procedures today are giving women the option of returning to their jobs and careers sooner. They are finding it easier to return to their pre-pregnancy shape with the help of the revolutionary cosmetic surgery.
