Your Discarded Breast Tissue Could Help Battle Cancer

In another effort to help the cause against cancer, plastic surgeons are now supplying breast tissue that was discarded after a breast augmentation in Newport Beach or a breast reduction to scientists.

Cell Stem Cell a journal discussing the latest cell research narrates a study conducted by scientists from Britain, Vancouver and Ontario, that discovered the usefulness of this plastic surgery in California ‘waste’. The scientists have successfully created a catalogue of genes that occur in normal, healthy breast tissue.

This cataloguing can help to eradicate those stem cells that contribute to the growth of breast cancer and could function better once a technique that will prevent damage to the tissue surrounding the affected part is found.

While stem cells are the focus of this study and are used to study the difference between healthy breast tissue and cancerous tumors, scientists are looking for ways to preserve them from the toxicity that sets in due to cancer.

So now, you don’t have to think of the breasts that burdened you and made you resort to a breast reduction in Newport Beach as completely futile. They are important and can someday, hopefully make you proud that you were part of the fight against cancer!
