News Update – Evicel™ Approval For Surgical Sealant Use:

Blood, blood loss, blood clotting, etc. are accepted outcomes of any surgery. A surgeon can at best have everything at hand to minimize the loss of blood and mitigate any complications that may arise from the same.

Cosmetic surgery, just like other forms of surgery also involves blood loss and clotting. To control blood clotting that results from an inability by the plastic surgeon to tamp the same through standard surgical means, the FDA has approved the sue of Evicel™, a fibrin sealant in liquid form.

This protein sealant met with success when it was initially used for controlling clotting in various liver and vascular procedures. With its benefits widely realized and approved by the medical community, its use in general surgery including plastic surgery, is opportune.

Evicel™ is available in frozen liquid form and requires hardly a minute of preparation after thawing. It is either sprayed or dripped on the blood vessels that are bleeding, immediately forming a layer and plugging the bleeding.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, board certified cosmetic surgeons are always tuned in to new break-throughs in the field of plastic surgery. Medical professionalism is offset by our emphasis on patient safety and health. Visit us for more details at any of our centers in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Pasadena and Orange County.
