Protruding Ears:

Adults who have undergone an otoplasty to correct protruding ears will none to fondly remember the ridicule and jibes they must have suffered when they were children. There wasn’t much that could be done back then to correct ears that stuck out in odd proportions to the body, hence the helplessness.

Protruding ears are influenced a lot by the size and angle of the concha cartilage, the size of the earlobe, large ears or the angle at which the cartilage of the ear or scapha is tilted. Surgery for cancer and Stahl Deformity are other serious factors that are also known to contribute to the formation of protruding ears.

Plastic surgery with its advancements can correct such a feature to a certain extent. Cosmetic surgeons perform an otoplasty surgery to sculpt and shape the ears.

The result of an otoplasty surgery is ears that are more in proportion to the rest of an individual’s face. Incase the patient desires a more harmonious appearance of his facial features, additional cosmetic surgery like a facelift or chin augmentation or cheek lift is performed.

For advice and guidance on these plastic surgery procedures you can schedule an appointment with the Plastic Surgery Institute of California. Click here for more information.
