Stem Cells Set To Revolutionize Plastic Surgery?

According to the National Institute of Health’s portal for stem cell information, stem cells have two distinguishing characteristics:

a. They are unspecialized cells that renew themselves for long periods through cell division

b. They can be stimulated to become cells with special functions under predetermined conditions.

These two characteristics are enough to point out the importance this cell type plays during the healing and growth process of the body or any part of it. So when researchers begin wondering about how stem cells can function as part of plastic surgery techniques it’s only natural to assume their usefulness.

Researchers believe that stem cell generated implant tissue could surpass the benefits of synthetic implants and could do away with problems like leakage, rupturing and rumpling. Additionally, the use of stem cell implants would not pose a problem when it comes to cancer detection and screenings.

Thus, just as how hair follicular stem cells help in hair restoration and tooth stem cells help rebuild teeth, stem cells used in the breast region could be used to regenerate lost breast tissue or help reconstruct the nasal cartilage.

This is however, a very lofty area of cosmetic surgery and is not without any controversies.

Medical experts believe that stem cell technology still leaves a lot to be desired as research in this area is yet taking mincing steps. Progress, quite understandably, is a bit slow.

Mommy Makeover Explains: Oncoplastic Breast Surgery

Regardless of the many nice things cosmetic surgery can do for mothers, some aspects of it are beginning to get even more helpful, especially for moms who are battling cancer.

What PSI mommy makeovers is talking about here is oncoplastic breast surgery, which we think was a much-needed area of treatment. It is like the elephant in the room- always obvious, but usually overlooked.

Oncoplastic breast surgery is an emerging plastic surgery field and in the coming future is bound to become very important for both the profession and breast cancer patients.

It is a combination of breast cancer surgery and cosmetic surgery.

For women diagnosed with significantly large breast carcinomas, this cosmetic surgery procedure presents convenience and comfort and allows them to regain a good semblance of their original bustline. While smaller tumors no doubt allow some restructuring and reshaping of the breast tissue, removal of a larger mass entails a lot of change in the original appearance of the breast.

Oncoplastic breast surgery makes it possible for the woman to attain a cosmetically better appearance for her operated breasts. Additionally, the doctor or team that has operated her for breast cancer is the same one performing the cosmetic breast surgery.

If you know of any women out there or are yourself a woman looking out for more information on this procedure, you can get in touch with the Plastic Surgery Institute of California. Packages for mommy makeovers procedures are also provided at our advanced surgical institute.

When The Fat Hits The Fan… Things Get Uglier

Nobody likes being called fat, not 23-year-olds and definitely not 38-year-olds.

Two very different types of women came under criticism for their weight in the past few weeks. One was the former swimsuit model, Rachel Hunter and the other Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne. Both of them retaliated differently though, but not before making known their indignation over the criticisms.

Kelly, the younger of the two women was compared to gangly model Agyness Deyn by Aussie comedian Jim Jeffries and in trademark Osbourne fashion, Kelly treated him to a string of expletives. By contrast, the much older Rachel Hunter struck back by wearing a teeny LBD.

Fat, how much ever people may be comfortable with, always causes some sort of discomfort as can be seen by the reactions of these two women. Plastic surgery procedures for reducing fat like liposuction, are not to be used when society affects a person’s physical perceptions to such an extent.

Sure Rachel Hunter or Kelly Osbourne can opt for a liposuction surgery, but everything said and done, it has to be their personal decision. If remarks like these will get them so riled up, it would be better for them to accept who they are and check their motivations first and not think of fat reduction treatments, products and cosmetic surgery to do the job.

Make a wise liposuction procedure decision with the help of the Plastic Surgery Institute of California.

Multiple Cosmetic Surgeries For The Eye Region

There are certain people who are tagged as suffering from a BDD just because they have multiple cosmetic surgery. For instance, there’s Katie Price the British model and Jocelyn Wildenstein the American socialite, two personalities very well known for their fondness for cosmetic surgery.

However, multiple cosmetic surgery procedures are at times necessary for achieving the complete result of a rejuvenation or restructuring process. While going overboard with plastic surgery (especially where it is not necessary) is not recommended at all, plastic surgeons at times suggest a follow up for the patient’s own benefit.

An eyelid surgery procedure usually has a brow lift surgery accompanying it, offering a complete rejuvenation of the area around the eyes. A good blepharoplasty surgeon will perform the surgery in such a manner that a combination procedure will suffice, without causing the patient to resort to additional procedures.

The mark of a good doctor is stopping when enough is enough and the eyelid surgeon you chose ought to have such a policy. It is better to get an idea about the changes expected and the extent of the work required before your surgery.

The Plastic Surgery Institute of California ascertains the eyelid surgery candidate’s needs during the initial consultation stage. This helps us understand our patients better and provide an enriching blepharoplasty surgery experience.

Sarah Jessica’s Million Dollar Face & The Missing Mole

Just about anybody and everybody is talking about Sarah Jessica Parker’s missing mole ever since she stepped out on the All-Star game last month.

Aliens from outer space have to yet be attributed to its absence apart from the two usual suspects- makeup and plastic surgery. Until someone picks up that thread, what we would like to place the blame on is some cosmetic surgery work.

Certain types of face lift surgery focus on blemish and mole removal or reduction, depending on whether cosmetic or corrective motivations drive the treatment. While nature does not bless everybody with dainty/ sexy moles a la Cindy Crawford and Julia Roberts, people with unsightly moles often resort to cosmetic surgery.

Corrective mole removal on the other hand is a course of action people like Ewan McGregor take, when their moles become cancerous. Usually when light complexioned people (with visible moles) stay out in the sun for an unusual amount of time, melanoma sets in making moles popular targets.

While what triggered SJP mole removal remains a mystery until she puts our doubts to the rest, we wouldn’t put it past the woman to have it cosmetically removed. The possible cosmetic mole removal can just be marked along with her possible cosmetic rhinoplasty.
